The National Institutes of Health (NIH) has launched the COVID-19 Neuro Databank/Biobank, called NeuroCOVID, to collect clinical information on COVID-19-related neurological symptoms, complications, outcomes and their effect on preexisting neurological conditions3. NeuroCOVID will offer participating groups de-identified information and biospecimens to gain insight into how COVID-19 affects the nervous system.
Funded by the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke, and initiated and maintained at NYU Langone Health, NeuroCOVID includes the Neuro Databank, which will collect information on adults, children and neonates with confirmed COVID-19 infection. It also includes a biorepository, the Neuro Biobank, to receive, track, store and distribute a wide variety of biosamples, including blood, plasma, cerebrospinal fluid and tissue, from patients who have COVID-19 and have experienced neurological complications.
